Welcome to our Shop
All of
our products are either sourced directly from our
own farm or sourced locally from other farms and
businesses local to us. This ensures that we know
our suppliers and their products and can be sure of
their quality.
Sheepskins
Our
sheepskins are processed for us by Devonia Products
in Buckfastleigh, Devon. We have no tannery in
Dorset and so we use Devonia who are part of the Axminster group of companies.
Wool
Our wool
is hand spun from our own fleeces. If you are
interested in spinning for us please contact us.
Meat
Our meat
is sourced from our rare breed animals. The meat is
hung according to type and is butchered at the
abattoir. If you require a specific cut then please
advise us in advance and we will endeavour to meet
your requirements.
Each animal on the farm has a unique number and this
provides traceability from its birth throughout its
life. Each carcass is identified and so we are able
to trace the identity of each joint that we produce
back to the individual animal.
Cheese
Our
cheese is produced by Ford Farm, Ashley
Chase Estate, here in the Bride Valley. Their
traditionally made cheese has been awarded the world
renowned Protected Designation of Origin status and
many other awards. In addition to their Farmhouse
Cheddar, they produce a range of speciality cheeses.
Smoked Fish
Our fish
is produced by Bridfish Smokery, who are located in
Bridport, here in Dorset. We are sure that you will
be delighted with the products that we have chosen
to offer here. Bridfish also smoke our bacon for us.
Chocolates
Our
chocolates are handmade by House of Dorchester.
If you like chocolate, what more can I say?
Jams, Preserves, and Chutneys
Our
jams, preserves, and chutneys are made by
Forest Products. Forest Products are based in Bridport and
have produced the finest quality hand
made jams, speciality preserves, and chutneys for
many years. We have chosen a range of their products
to offer to you that we believe will please and
complement our other products.
Caring for and preserving our products
Our
perishable goods should be refrigerated or frozen
immediately on arrival. Once opened remove the
product from the vacuum pack and either allow to
breathe for 30 minutes in the case of chilled
products or to thaw slowly in the case of frozen
products. Should the chilled product require to be
returned to the refrigerator, keep it well wrapped
in cling film and consume within four days. Our
frozen goods may be stored in a freezer for up to 13 weeks in a 3 star freezer.
Our
sheepskins have care instructions on the label on
the reverse of the skin.
Wool and
fleeces should not be kept in sealed polythene or
other non-breathable containers for other than short
periods. Wool is a natural product and needs to
breathe or moisture will form on the inside of the
wrapping. Wool should not be stored in bright
sunshine or the natural colour may change, due to
bleaching.
Fleeces
contain a large amount of lanolin and are therefore
quite greasy to handle. Please ensure that you care
for your skin after any prolonged handing of the
fleeces, as the lanolin will transfer to your hands.
Ensure that any surface that fleeces come into
contact with will not be damaged by the grease.
