What most people find surprising is that these wonderful
rare breed animals wouldn't survive if we didn't breed
them for their meat
and other
products, as many are not financially viable on a
commercial scale. Therefore the few that remain
would become simply museum pieces. This is why the
Rare Breed Survival Trust and the individual breed societies do so much work in promoting
the characteristics of the individual breeds.
